Do the WAPs have the ability to act as bridges between networks? I know for sure that the new Netgear WAPs can and their earlier models can be firmware upgraded.

I talked to my contact at Belkin about this - he said their current devices do not support "bridging networks" by using two WAPS. But their next line of products will. |

I'm adding a wireless access point to my wired network. I need to get two pc's onto the wireless which are located in a new office that is not wired. Is there a way to use only one wireless receiver (USB) and say a SMC barricade router to split the signal and get it to both pc's; say something like a USB/CAT5 connector, etc? |

Yes I did this with a Netgeard WAP router. It had a built in CAT5 8-port hub, so I placed it near one computer, and plugged into the hub via CAT5/NIC. Then installe donly one wireless network card in the other computer, upstairs and it communicates via the WAP to the other computer, and the internet just as expected.

I have a prob with my wireless network pcmcia/WAP. If i run the AP Manager, it cannot find the WAP and says something with Dart.TCP.1 not found/configured. So I cannot change the Security settings, etc. It is np for me to go online, cuz atm I am with it online. I tried to manually conenct via the IP adress (stabdart and which my System gave it), but no luck. The drivers are the newest one from Belkin, and also it is properly installed in the system manager. It wouldbe helpfull if you may have a clue what this problem could be. With best regards.#

Oh, before I forget it, I am using this at a Laptop (so no pci adapter), with WIN XP as OS. Else, nothing special is to say, maybe only that my Software wants to install with a SSID as ANY, and I changed it to WLAN (after it hasn't worked at the first place). Is there maybe an possibility, to go over my normal network card, with a (crossover, or normal) cable into the WAP? Anyways, I would be aprecciated if someone could help me.

I have had the same problem with the dart.tcp.1 error when I try to use the WLAN AP manager for my Belkin access point. How can I make my Netgear wireless network card work with my Belkin access point? |

I hope you didn't suspend or hibernate your system with the card mounted :/
It could be just a resource confict, but if not you might have to uninstall manually.
Try uninstalling the software first, then the device from device manager (make sure you set "show hidden devices" as an option).
Remove the files installed as driver + inf files (see the CD for those names), and any references in your registry.
reboot, and reinstall.
Other than that little issue I had, I'm very satisfied with the set I use.
I have a USB Adapter installed on a win98 Winroute machine + PCMCIA card setup in my laptop, operating in Ad-Hoc mode.
Now, my Dell laptop is a triple-boot beast with win2k, XP pro and Mandrake Linux 9.0, and this card functions just as well with linux.
The chipset on the card is detected as an Intersil PrismII, so with a little tweaking of /etc/pcmcia/config and network.if_eth1 script my laptop either gets a DHCP from its normal NIC or a DHCP address from the winroute machine on boot.
