My dad is looking for a good inkjet printer that can obtain photo quality color prints for some of his photography, and ALSO print true black and white for some of his day-to-day work documents.

Preferably one that contains separate ink cartidges for each color (and one for black). Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks! Question:-D

I just bought an Epson Stylus 777 about two weeks ago. The photo quality is amazing, especially since I only paid $139CDN for it. It does not have separate ink cartridges for each color, but the black and color are two separate cartridges. I haven't really tested the text performance/clarity yet, but from what I have seen, it is pretty good. For the price, this printer is tough to beat. One warning though, it doesn't come with a printer cable of any sort, so you have to buy that.

don't buy HP

they make some really good SH*T, but you can get something nearly good for a lot less $ $ $

I'm not really bagging on HP here, If you were having your boss pick uo the tab I'd be telling you how much they kick ass. . but most home users don't need to pay the extra to get what they have to offer.

I really prefer Epson. I have a 740, and the quality is pretty good. I've seen better, but its still worth noting.

I would recommend something Epson.

i guess youve probably already got the printer but.. bout the hp's... hp's do kick much ass.. better picoliters and all that but as well when you change ink cartridges, you also change the print heads.. one less thing to die.. on a budget the 900 series is pretty nice.. jus my .02 cents..
