The ThermalTake Smart Fan I on my Volcano7 is annoyingly loud. The Smart Fan II appears to be much better and offers the choice of manual speed adjustment besides thermostatic control. Give it a shot. If you don't like it, you can always use that fan for case cooling and buy something different to go on the SLK-800.
I am considering another adjustable-speed 80mm YS-Tech fan for an SLK-800 to replace the Volcano7 in my backup PC. I installed one of these fans on the Alpha PAL-8045 in my main PC, and it would be really great, except that I RMA'ed the motherboard weeks ago and I still haven't received a replacement. My main system is currently totally silent, and generates no heat at all. |
