My motherboard does not have direct support for overclocking, so I thought I would just use softfsb. However, as I found out softfsb does not come with direct support for my ICS9248-146 chip. softfsb does support user entered data for clockgenerator chips, but I can't seem to figure out the details. I found the data sheet for this chip here:www.icst.com/products/pdf/9248-146.pdf , but as I said before I can't make heads or tail from it. anyone have any sugestions on how to continue?

Thanks,
~Varney

Try CPU FSB instead. If that doesn't support your clock generator, I can't really help (programatically altering PLL values isn't easy). I tried to find out what clock generator the Intel 440FX chipset used - I have a dual PII 266 Dell PowerEdge using this chipset - but all I could find was that it belonged to the CY227x family produced by Cypress.
