I need some help on deciding on which CPU to buy, an Athlon or a Duron. What's the best for the $$$. I know that the Athlon's L1 and L2 cache are twice as much as a Duron, but what is that going to mean? Thanks.

Artstar is right on the money, Except that Duron spanks celerys ass untill its numb.
if your looking for price/performance ratio go Duron
if not and have the money get a 1Ghz Tbird w/ 266 FSB
that mi advice

For a bit of a comparison, my Duron 600@900 and my T-Bird 650@800 perform nearly identically. The extra 100Mhz for the Duron make it nearly equal to the T-Bird(Although cache intensive apps like SETI are still a wee bit faster on the T-Bird). In 3D-Mark 2000(I know 2001 is out, but it does nothing but crash for me) the T-bird 800 and Duron 900 are consistently within 50 points of each other. The same goes for the Sisoft benchmarks.

Eagles may fly, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines!!

Try having a couple of browsers open, an animation progie, notepad, word, netscapes composer (or some other web page creator), and play a game all at the same time with a Duron and then with a T-bird... [Sticking out Tongue]
