Greetings... after much stealthing of the forum, it's time to join in on the fun. I'm tweaking for maximum SETI performance, does anyone have any suggestions? I'm using a BP6, 2 Celerons @ 488MHz on 75MHz FSB (best compromise), 384MB PC-100, Win2k, the usual suspects...

I'm using the SETI Command Line client, SETI Driver and SETISpy, the Driver is set for 2 processes w/processor affinity enabled, the first instance of SETI on CPU 0 the second instance on CPU 1. WU completion time is currently 18 hours per process and my goal like everyone elses is to crank out WU's as efficiently as possible. Is there anything more I can do (short of stealing a few computers) within the SETI software to improve performance or have I found my 'peak' under my current hardware setup?

And since I've always been a dog at heart, it was time to join the LWD SETI Team. Looking at those stats, I'd better build a dual VP6 or Xeon... [Very Happy]

Welcome to the team Darkstar.
It looks like you have your system set up pretty good but i cannot say what the time per unit should be on a bp6.

If you do decide to go with a VP6 dual system i recommend going with CPUs that will run at 133 fsb. I chose 800/100fsb CPUs and get four WUs a day out of it (about 12 hours per instance). With 800/133fsb chips i am sure i could get another one or two more per day out of it.

really Question that's what I'm averaging on my bp6 4/day

Darkstar, Catch me realtime on ICQ some night and I'll help you see if you're getting the most out of your BP6

as for a new Dually setup, I'd wait to get some dual athlon lovin ! (courtesy of the 760MP chipset) you can get a 2 chips running at 133ddr and save some $$ at the same time.

I was hoping to get 6 per day. I am very dissappointed with the performance.[v]
