I just got done stripping a couple PCs down to build a "legacy" machine with Win98 for my roommate. She has a bunch of games that she hasn't played yet that won't run on her PIII box under XP. I am crunching SETI to burn in the system (don't tell her, but I don't intend to take it off before I give it to her) and I saw that under load for about half an hour it hits about 33 degrees. Now my Athalon 1.2 hits that about half way through the post. While I don't think I should be concerned I can't for the life of me find anywhere what is the operating range for that chip. It is of course a slot 1 with factory cooling. |

Here are Intel's guidelines relating to the normal operating temperatures of PII and PPGA Celeron processors (scroll down until you see the table). According to the table the PII-400's maximum operating temperature is 75 deg.C. |

A skillet? My friend and I managed to push 150C before it went to little CPU and MOBO heaven.
