I been studying up on HSF's for xp's over at the frog pond and they seem to be pushing the AX7. However, that thing weighs over 600g. I would think for mild OC work that the Taisol 760092 copper bottom job would work fine. And it only weighs 264g and has a good clip.

Yes it would. However, you're gonna have to cough up quite a few bucks to do so. Swiftech and Alpha are the only companies I'm aware of (I could be wrong) that make ones with the 4-hole mounting. [. . .]
Actually, the Zalman 5000 series sink/fans do the four hole mounting thing. I picked up a ECS K7S5A (sis 735 chipset) and another Athlon xp 1600. The Alpha PAL8045 just doesn't quite fit on this MB. The Zalman is tight. I may sic a dremel to a couple of the fins to make sure that there is clearance.

The thing I like the best about the bolt on heatsinks is that you _know_ that the thing is not coming off willingly. The downside is that you have to do major surgery if you ever want to get at the core.

im just not very keen on trying to clip the heatsink onto the 200 processor by pressing down very hard with a screwdriver.....which is why im looking at thumbclips and the motherboard hole ones......and also water cooling
Understood. I do get the impression that while water cooling does yield some of the most impressive OC results its a high maintenence solution. IE: flushing your radiator. If you go water, just remember to keep some of the overclockers secret weapon around.
Duct tape.
Hex.
Will take the noise and lower maint of air cooling over water at this point. |

ive actually decided to go for air cooling, ive decided on the coolermaster hhc-001, it is a solid copper heatsink with two heat pipes that have a "wick" in them in order to disperse the heat better........it comes witha 6.8k rpm fan (noise is not an issue, as im partially deaf)....probably the best thing about this heatsink besides the heat tubes, is the nifty clip design
