Went through both configs to ensure identical setups ...
Win98 - Quake3@110 fps
Mandrake 7.2 - Quake3@113 fps
Where's the performance hit under Linux ... [ ]

YOu're damd right man!! Linux Rocks!! i heard the 7.4beta kernel is out now. WHen they officially release it thats one to look out for! apparently USB Support is going to be second to none [ ]

The thing that really held me back was the download speed. On all the mirrors that Mandrake supplied, the fastest d/l speed I got was 4.2KB/s. I have a hard time waiting 6180 hours for a download, especially when I already have Mandrake 7.2 at home.

u don't need a burner..u just need winimage to extract it to hard drive...but then again..i don't know how the linux install goes, so you may need a cd anyway.

I installed Linux from files saved on the Win98 drive ...
The "iso" file should contain the boot image I need to do this ... [ ]
