Was this a fresh install? (Clean Harddrive) or did you upgrade from 95?

Look to see what applications are in your startup folder. Also look in the registry under Run and Run services to see what is loading.

From the applications that are in those 3 places, you should be able to determine what apps are trying to be loaded when Windows starts. try running each of those apps separately by hand and see which one gives the error.

that should determine where it's coming from and then you can either fix or remove that app from being started.

If you click start, then click run and type
MSCONFIG and press enter, then go to the startup tab it will show you everything that starts with windows. From there you can uncheck any programs that you do not want to run at windows boot-up.

Start windows in safe mode - If you still get the error it means it's not a program based error since there shouldn't be any programs running on safe mode... Very Happy

Is this on the initial restart after installing the OS?? If it is, maybe you have a bad Windows CD? Can you find the install.log yourself?? Boot into dos and see if there is an install.log anywhere. If you can't find it, try borrowing someone elses install disk and see if that helps.
