There's some pretty good deals on some really fun games there. If you do steam, you can have some fun.

The whole "internet delivery" thing just doesn't work out for me with my el-shiito internet.

Can't have it both ways.... count your blessings you got a great piece of land and a kick ass house. Not to mention more snow than you can shake a stick at. I'll trade you a fast fiber connection and a house in the burbs for your situation. Rolling Eyes

A satellite internet connection (Hughesnet, Xplorenet, etc.) should work fine for bringing hundreds of gigabytes of games to your remote castle.

If you have a friend with a better internet connection, it's quite possible to copy the local files from the steam folder on one machine to another.

Hughesnet / Xplornet won't work very well with steam because of the so-called "Fair Access Policy".

The basic gist of the fair access policy is that you are limited to 200MB's a day. If you exceed the 200MB's a day, your connection get's throttled to dial-up like speeds for the next 24 hours. There is a window in the middle of the night that is FAP free, so windows update and stuff can be scheduled to run then, but it's still a PITA. Can steam downloads be scheduled?

And don't worry fear - I know my blessings. Internet access is literally the only thing I don't like about my home.

Is L4D2 in the bargain basement already?

Puzzle Quest appears to no longer be on sale.

There are a dozen or so games on sale each day. At noon CST, we get a new set of deals. There are packs and publisher sales that run through January 2.

For the next 24 hours, you can get:

$5 Torchlight -- It's an updated Diablo clone.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/41500/

$10 Borderlands -- It's like Fallout 3 but with more guns and shooting, no stealing, and less talking.
http://store.steampowered.com/sale/holiday2010_borderlands

$30 Fallout: New Vegas -- It's like Fallout 3 but in the desert.
It's only $25 if you already own Fallout 3. Cool
http://store.steampowered.com/app/22380/

There are 9 more daily specials and over a thousand other games that are on sale.
