Plextor's new CD-RW has "Burn Proof" technology and I must say it is truly burn proof! I've tried every which way to fail a burn and have yet to see it fail! While running numerous apps I burned data off the C drive and was also copying the same data up to a network drive and the CD burn was perfect!

Burn Proof sounds like something I need
once upon a time when I got my first cd-r, I used to turn out coasters all the time at $5 a pop. and boy did THAT suck !

I think its the Plextor 12x. Of course, you could probably get faster with a shit load of money.
By the way, I am getting the Plextor 12x10x32 soon. Probably right after turkey day. [^]

just remember this:
if you get a fast recorder, make sure it has atleast 4meg of cache on board, to prevent buffer under-runs
my cd-rw has 8 meg..... Yummy ! [^]

I'm not sure how big the on-board buffer is on the Plextor 12/10/32, I think it might only be 2MB but it could be 4MB. Also remember to get CD-Rs or RWs that are rated for the speed you wish to burn them at. I have burned at 12x on a CD-R rated for only 8X but you take the chance of failures! I personally like Verbatim CD-Rs but Memorex puts on some nice stuff. Maxell sucks in my opinion since we bought like 250 of them and had about 30% failure!

I think it has a 4mb onbaord buffer. I usually get the compUSA generic cdrw. They are rated at 8x, so thats what we burn them at (also the lack of a faster drive). But they've only had a 2% failure rate. Not to bad for 100cd's for $10!

It usually says it somewhere on the box it came in. What drive do you have? I'm sure someone here can help you out.

that's what I've been using lately.
the Best brand I have ever used though were KAO
they were great, the only time I ever turned out a coaster with them was when:
A) I had a system wide problem ( crash, power loss, etc)
B) when I got my first worthless 2x burner and wasn't smart enuff about SCSI to get an adaptec board (it came with some worthless ISA controller)
There is NO spoon !
