Since I was mysteriously handed the ownership of our SETI team... I'm just letting you all know that we are still here.

Currently we're ranked 70... and not that far behind Cisco. We have passed IBM and Carl Sagan!

I'll try to find a way to get the stats updated in a somewhat regular basis.

Thanks for taking it over. It has been wayyyyy too long since we stopped cheering each other on (or tooting our own horns) and replaced that with political turmoil.

But, instead of a stats page - there are many stat providers already, you'd only be reinventing the wheel - why not do the news in a different, more qualitative way?

For example:
Expand the scope to ALL BOINC projects in which members participate (I am the Team Founder of LWD Team PrimeGrid)
Recognize milestones achieved no matter how small, encouraging the little guy who still runs with Win98 on 120MHz PC
    Teams we pass/pass us
    Featured Crunchers!!!
What its all about: Astonomy Pic of the Day
    Gauntlets/Races
    Miscellaneous Ramblings
    How-To Articles, Optimization, etc.
    Resume recruiting new members

If you rotate the kind of articles written on a weekly basis, and publish, say, only four times a week, I promise you won't get bored running the same script every night.

In the past year I drifted back to GIMPS, the original DC project which recently discovered the 45th and 46th Known Mersenne Primes and claimed the $100,000 EFF Prize. I started GIMPS ~13 years ago, but back then, a WU took over a year to complete. I installed Folding@Home last night after a grueling day re-install/repairing Vista, just before I read this thread and started BOINCing again.

btw, I am just 3 months shy of my Tenth SETIversary tongue1

yeah that's kind of what I meant. Something like FT used to do.

I'm currently working on something recruitment related.

You know Olive, a news page doesn't have to be cumbersome, monotonous, or in any way Not Fun. That would not be sustainable in the long term. You could actually publish everything newsworthy that happens in this thread to the LWD SETI@Home page, letting everyone participate to whatever extent they want.

I have an idea for some SETI Trivia FUN Idea

Let's play GO Fetch dog12icon

{Easy}
Only four internationally recognized sovereign states have never participated in SETI@Home.

    Can you name them?

{Hard}
Users in 234 countries have participated in SETI@Home, and since there are only 195 sovereign states with general international recognition and 10 sovereign states lacking broad international recognition, thirty three micronations have participated (234 - (195 + 10 - 4)).

    Can you name them?

Anybody??

SETrIvia

Nearly 55% of all teams in SETI@Home claim to be international.

Only 31.5% of all teams are active.

Of all 944,186 SETI@Home Users 18.9% or 179,242 are still active since joining, and 68% have completed 100 or fewer Work Units. So, 38.5% of all users with more than 100 results are still active.

The USA has 30.89% of all global Users and 42.87% of all results (18.5 Billion).

The current state of the SETI@Home Supercomputer is 514 TeraFLOPS

admittedly, since seti@home went BOINC I kind of lost touch with all that BOINC envelopes.

you mention PrimeGrid... yet I'm only able to find us linked to the following projects:
BURP
Climate Prediction
Einstein@Home
LHC@Home
Pirates@Home
Predictor@Home
Rosetta@Home
SETI@Home
World Community Grid

Have any linkage for that PrimeGrid?
