I have been working in our shipping department at work for about 6 months now and have seen the IT guy, Kevin ,a number of times.
Most was network related problems and a sprinkleing of software issue's but I have noted that alot of people have become so dependant on him that simple fixes are ignored.
Case in point: Last week the 2nd shift shipping person left a note for my supervisor stating that the computer kept shutting down during use for no apparent reason.
Supervisor informs me that bills may not get printed if the computer takes a dump, and leaves a message for Kevin to come down and see what the problem might be.
Supervisor goes over to packageing (after the computer shuts down again) to plan the day out.
I of course think it a little odd the way the shut downs are happening and start fiddleing the the on /off button. Of course nothing happens until my foot moved the box while I was shifting around. The power light flickered for a few seconds then went out. Hmmm.
Slide said machine out a foot and start feeling around the back, and found a loose power plug, which I promptly reseated, and viola, no more power problem.
When Mr. Supervisor returned I inform him he's up and running again and the day can proceed as normal.
Moral of the story....
Sometimes its the simple things that can seem the most complicated but a simple solution is often overlooked. |
