Yup. We're off to Disneyland on Saturday. My parents took me to Disneyland back when I was about 8 monthes old. Surprisingly, I don't remember too much from that trip. I would anticipate that Disneyland has probably changed a bit since July of '76.
It wouldn't be my first choice in vacation destinations, but all of my family is going. My brother's kids are 6 and 11, so that should make it more fun for the rest of us. My sister is 36 in age, and 13 in personality, so she should be rather fun there too.
Mrs. hummer and I have about 12 hours to kill in L.A. before the rest of the family arrives, and we have a car. Anything that we should go and see in L.A. in that time? I don't anticipate us coming back from Anaheim before we head home, so that is kind of the only day in L.A. I'm thinking of heading to Beverly Hills etc. (I realize that they are basically one big city but we will probably spend most of our time at Disneyland and Universal). |

Nothing to really see in Beverly Hills...really.
What do you want to do?
There's always the beaches...
Chinatown is okay...if yer into that.
You could check out Hollywood...but it's just as overrated as Beverly Hills...
If yer a glutton fer punishment...you could head south to San Diego and check out Sea World...it's about a 3hr run down there. So that would be 9hrs right there alone...
You could check out Magic Mountain...that's another amusement park...
There's a few museums and botanical gardens...
Catalina Island would be a good tour...take the fast boat though...
Here's a list of things... |

I suggest Huntington Beach. See if you can find the skateboarding dog, he and his man hang out there, watch the surfers wipe out (they hang out near the pier) or fly a kite.
Paramount Studios probably has tours, as does Universal (which also has a theme park).
Check out the walk of fame and compare your feet with those of Hollywood legends and the Chinese Theatre.
If you are into cars, the Peterson automotive museum is pretty cool.
Long Beach has the QE2, which I hear is very interesting.
Go to the Westin Bonaventure hotel and have lunch or a drink in their big, rotating restaurant for a cool view of Downtown LA.
Window shop on Rodeo Dr (yawn). |

Thanks for the suggestions - I think we are going to go and check out the Queen Mary down at long beach. We have about five hours to kill before we have to head to the airport and pick up my sister.
Oh, and thrifty, these are my brothers kids - they're used to being embarrassed |
