i have a slot 1 motherboard with a P3 550 on a 100Mhz bus. I OverClocked the FSB to 112. I cant OC the FSB to 133 The MoBo supports 133FSB but i guess my P3 doesnt. I am looking to buy a P3 800-1000Mhz

Now here is where i am a little confused. They have P3's with 100 and 133 bus. Should i get a 100Mhz bus processor and OC it too 133 or should i get a 133Mhz bus proc? It i get the P3 with the 133Mhz processor how would i overclock it? What should i buy?

Any answers? remember it is SLOT.

PS: i have all pc133 memory so i could use either one

your answer is slotkey.
try www.azzo.com

look for ASUS FC-PGA to Slot1 converter for Coppermine CPU's 29 bucks.

After sending a lot of time researching, i think the slot 1 sucks. Probley just a marketing ploy so you have to buy a new type of Motherboard.(but you probley knew all that)

This site has whats called E and EB procs http://www.memory4less.com/cpus.asp

My motherboard DOES support BX, what ever that is.

Ender, Slot was fine at the time. Now the nicest thing is you can use a slot converter and still use the same motherboard.

Squito is correct also, looking at this product
http://www.powerleap.com/Products/iP3T.htm
It supports the newest chip from intel. Better choice. But you need the conevert to join the MB and processor now.

They work great with a converter ... alot of people use them ... there's absolutely no loss in performance going with one ... BX boards rock, slot or no slot !!!

Yes they do rock. Mine has been with me and running roc solid for nearly 4 years. First as a 300a oc'd to 450. Currently has a 600e oc'd to 800. Now I'm just using for seti and its on 24x7 looking for little green people.

Hey Ender

I might be interested in taking that mobo/processor off your hands if you want to purchase a socket A processor and MoBo instead

The reason I ask what MB you have is due to Front side bus and PCI/AGP Dividors.. If you were to get a "EB" 133MHz Bus processor, then you will more than likely have problems with the PCI and AGP Bus. The "E" runs on 100 MHz bus and you will be just fine with a BX board, More than likely you will be able to easily OC that Processor..

if you get the correct slotkey, the FB isnt of concern. The MB will run happy at is default settings, while the slotkey ups the voltage for the chip. So MB can be at 100 while the chip is at either 133 or whatever setting you want to oc too.
