What are you going to do with your US Tax Rebate Check?

How To Get Your 2008 Stimulus Rebate Check Faster - this blog lets you know how to get it quicker... and what dates to expect it.

CNN’s current unscientific poll shows that 48% of respondents will pay off their debt, 32% will save it, and only about 20% will immediately stimulate the economy by spending it.

Me...I'm spending mine Smile maybe two or three times!

I am going to try and save it for Christmas time but I am also trying to move into a house so there might be some spending involved.

This "rebate" is an investment into a troubled economy, and the government can only justify such a payment hoping it will recover at least the same amount of tax revenues, and is only possible in an election year.

If you consider that this country is going deeper into debt to provide this "rebate", paying bills/debts would be a great disservice to our economy. The Patriotic thing to do is spend spend spend.

It is pretty rare that I ever even have a refund, since I refuse to lend our government interest-free money (they have awfully poor financial management), let alone go crazy with it. But paying debt (defined exactly the same a savings) is really just wasting it. You will always have bills to pay. You won't always have free money to play with.

right... I'll always have bills to pay... but they won't always have interest tacked on... that's the goal here

And once you pay off this debt, you won't ever borrow on a casual basis anymore? hmm? That's like waking up with a hangover and swearing you will never drink again.

yes... and some people do it... btw... I don't drink and have never been drunk and don't smoke. I have will power... and I will do everything within my power to pay off the debt and get investments working FOR me so I can retire and live instead of waste away on social insecurity

at least that's the plan
