I can surf the net but I can't ping my PC1? I can ping my other PC2 from my PC1. I can ping my router1 and dsl modem/router2. My router1 is set as DHCP server by default. Router1 is also set to get IP dynamically from ISP. Router1 is also set to get DNS address automatically from ISP.

Regards,

Rob

Do you need to be able to ping PC1? Is it a problem if you can't?

Well I can't see PC2 on PC1. I can't see PC1 on PC2. I can surf the net on both machines? When I need to file share I can't. PC2 is W2k Server. PC1 is WXP PRO.

Are they both on the same subnet? Got any firewall software running on either machine, whether Windows' own firewall or third-party products? Is the Server service running on both machines? Is the Workstation service running on both machines? Can you connect manually to shared resources even if you can't browse to them? Have you configured the "Hidden" attribute for the Server service on them?

That's not an exhaustive list, but it should give you some ideas of what to look for.

Both are on the same subnet. Windows firewall is off and I can't find a windows firewall on W2k server. Server and Workstation services are running on both machines. What do you mean, connect manually to shared resources even if you can't browse to them? I can't see Worgroup when I click View workgroup computers on PC1 WXP Pro. I can see both machines in W2k Server but cannot access Workgroup from PC1 WXP Pro. I have not configured the "Hidden" attribute for the Server service on them. How can I?

your helping me out and I am grateful for that

By fiddling with the Registry, or by using so-called "security" tools which pretend to make your computer more secure, and which fiddle with the Registry. For example.

Not sure but most "Fischer Price" routers have a "can't ping this network" that is usually checked by default. Not sure if it applies to in-network end devices also.

T is the master but I would also like to suggest to turn off that simple sharing option XP has by default. In windows explorer select <Tools><Folder Options><View> and scroll all the way to the bottom of the advanced settings dialog and uncheck <use simple sharing>. Doubt that has anything to do with the ping issue but it will make sharing a bit easier.

First of all, learn how to ask a question. The above are statements of fact (I assume).
If they are questions, then you are the only one who can possibly answer them.

If you haven't solved this yet (I notice it's over 3 weeks old) Other information needed:
Are you trying to ping PC1 FROM PC1?
Do you really have two routers, or are they a router (switch) and a Modem (gateway)?

This example sounds like the one you want to achieve:
