|
My 3 or 4 year old desktop just bit the dust, and bit it hard. Onboard raid controller fried and took out 2 of my hard drives. So I lost all of my data, yay!
It boots sometimes, so I'm guessing the motherboard is on its way out, d'uh!
This is going to be a completely new build besides monitors and speakers. I have 2 Samsung 19" LCDs (930b) and a fairly powerful logitech 5.1 setup. Case will be replaced too, Antec P180, as the usb ports don't work on the front of the case anymore due to being half ripped out from a charging cat tripping over a cable.
I'm SO far out of the loop when it comes to hardware now it isn't even funny.
Gaming isn't much an issue, I have a xbox 360...which I barely use, but I wouldn't mind having the option to do so if I so choose. Realistically, all I really need is massive amount of storage, the ability to backup data without a problem, and being able to record tv would be nice.
Specs of the old rig, roughly.
Asus K8NE Deluxe
Athlon 64 3400+
1gb pc3200 (Yeah, weak spot)
7600 or 7800GT video card (can't remember which)
4x300gb sata drives in raid 5
2x74gb raptor drives stripped for OS and programs
Antec P180
550watt antec PS
16x DVD+-RW
16x DVD-ROM
Soundblaster Audigy 2 Platinum edition.
Dual 19" LCD's.
Other random crap.
Thoughts? Suggestions? |

Ouch. Sorry to hear about your computer troubles. It stinks when a computer bites the dust like that.
As far as your specs are concerned, from my view everything except for the amount of RAM looks good. I would get 2 GB. |
