Ok I tried that way too, and turned off Zonealarm and any other frisky programs I had running... I opened the client and it did a bunch of Dos looking stuff and then I opened up Setidriver, newclient blah blah adn picked it, and it found it and let me pick it... then it did nothing and then locked up again... over and over, and not just sort of locked up, like bigtimenothingelsecanbedone lockup. So I guess I'm out of the Seti loop for awhile.. but I will try again after I do my real work I suppose. thanks for trying to help me! |

transmit all of your completed units
then stop seti driver
goto the folder where seti_driver is, and delete these files:
3.0 client
seti driver.cfg file
seti driver.csv
then fire up the seti driver again, it'll ask you where the command line executable is, and you will have to re-setup your preferences once it fires up
Blame is for people who need a reason to be pissed off !

Thanks again for trying to help me. I did all of that, no luck, just lockups. Then I re-opened my Seti folder and noticed the Cmdline thing keeps disappearing from the folder.. So I moved it back, and it went away again. Is there some rule about this stuff? So I went back to the SETI page and redownloaded it directly into my Seti folder. The CMDline icon thing is now in the folder, opened Seti and I got a time down at the bottom, but when I hover over the blue icon, it just says Seti Driver, and then it locked up again. Must just be my comp? |

Do not remove the old client ... when you update the client with SETI Driver it removes the oldest client ... if you have only one client in there, that one get removed ... I made that mistake ... [:I]

Squito is right. . .
that's why my steps included deleteing the .cfg file then the next time you run it, seti driver thinks it's running for the first time and doesn't delete the client
I had to do that on 2 of my systems because it kept locking up whenever I'd point it to the new client

But in your instructions, I thought you said remove the 3.0 client? I don't know how to quote but...
goto the folder where seti_driver is, and delete these files:
3.0 client
seti driver.cfg file
seti driver.csv
Well at any rate, its all gone now...
And I did delete all of the three things you said, and tried it but it still doesn't work. Thanks for trying to help me. It isnt as if I was adding much anyway *sniffle*
Maybe I will buy a big fast computer and then start over.
Edit: Ok I deleted everything and started over, and I still can't get it to work, now i get the red upside down deal, but at least it didn't lock up. It is all in the same folder, new client and all the little babies it made when I ran the cmd thing the first time.... am I making progress? Im going shopping!

i think the way i worded my reply to squito must have been confusing
you understood what i typed the first time correctly
after you deleted those 3 files, seti driver should have thought it was running for the first time. so it SHOULD have asked you where the seti client was. at which point you would have pointed it to the 3.03 client
as for the red upside down thingy, it sounds like it decided you didn't have any WU's cached for some reason. . . and I don't have any theories there
sorry if i'm confusilating anyone with all my rambling :

I ended up deleting everything and all is working fine now. The command line.exe would disappear for me as well. I made a new folder and placed both Setidriver and commandline in them and just ran setidriver, Hit transmit and it came up with a dos box. I hit 2 for existing account and then put email addin in.

I just did this again (tried this client when it first came out - now I have to use it ) ... put the new client in the SETI folder ... fired up SETI Driver and told it to run the old client (it'll ask if you have more than one client in there ) ... SETI Driver fired up ... then clicked the New Client button ... told it which client to use (the new one ) ... all is well ... [ ]

I have changed my initial impression of 3.03. It is SAS compared to the 3.0 version.

I read all this stuff and it doesn't seem to apply to my current problems.
I now have the yellow icon and no matter what I do, it won't do anything.
Tried transmitting etc. but it just stays there yellow and nothing else comes up. Any tips on either of my issues appreciated! |

If not already selceted in seti driver, click on the display transmit button. Now when you tell it to transmit what does it say in the dos box?

Lady,
It appears you uploaded one today.. Your total went from 226 to 227. Did you get it working?
