|
I learned here that it might be a keyboard issue, replaced it with one known to be good and it didn't work. After some more fumbling around looking for a solution, I unplugged the HDD and plugged in the other HDD I have on the system with a separate installation of Win XP Pro and got the exact same error, even though I know for a fact it was working the last time I had it plugged in and it has not been plugged in since then.
That would seem to eliminate any possibility of it being software related and I already know it could be a hardware problem. The spare keyboard is has a PS2 plug like the original one. Can it be a ground wire short in the plug in on the motherboard? Are there any other hardware problems that can make it read as a missing or corrupt ntoskrnl.exe file?
The system config is a AMD AthlonXP 2800+, ASUS A7N8X Deluxe motherboard, 1 GB RAM (2 x 512 MB), Win XP Pro SP2, WD Caviar SE 160GB HDD, G Force 5600 Video Card. |

Could be motherboard short or leaky capacitors. Check it out.
Could try XP disk and do a Recovery.
I know little more; wait for the big guns? Good Luck!!! |

Most likely yer PSU or mobo is dying.
I've had all my ASUS A7N8X Deluxe mobos die on me...
At least I still have one of my ECS K7S5A mobos alive... |

my a7v333 is still kickin... of course it's newer than the original a7v333... but I physically damaged the first one and it was going on 6 years old and almost constant use... this one is (a newer version - 2.0 vs. 1.01) newer, but it was used from the place I got it... must just be that model of ASUS
Asus usually has really good stuff... but every once in a while, even the best companies will bomb out on something. |
