I'm currently running at 1.4ghz Athlon with a Super Orb 3 heatsink/fan combo. It keeps the system nice and cool, but is too damn loud. Think it would be possible to run it with a standard H/F combo and just add a couple of case fans, or will I need more cooling?

I got the volcano 7 with 2 Sunon 30ish CFM hooked up to a fanbus, with in turn is hooked to a switch that puts it at 7/12v.

Quiet and efficient.

Gonna replace the switch with a thermal circuit as soon as I can figure out the circutry...

I'm using the Vantec 6027D right now. I had the 6035 on there, but it's basically the same performance and a helluva lot quieter.

Homemade: Best Damm Heatsink I've Ever Owned.

Two 3"dia. fans, copper base, aluminum fins... Thing keeps my overclocked proc running nice and cold all the time, year round!

HELP, i have a buddy whos temp monitor goes of a 70 degrees we got him a dragon orb and the processor still is running at 66-70 degrees!

What shall i do for him?

Holy shit! That ain't right. What goop is he using with the DO3?

I got a Vantec CCK-6027D coming in with my 1.4GHz T-Bird, and am hoping for good cooling results. Shouldn't be much louder than the FOP 32-1 I have in there now...

Is it still working (that's HOT) ... is the case well ventilated ... are you sure the heatsink is sitting flat ... could be a number of things ... need more info Confused

Ya, it still works but when we use it too long or play video and CPU intense games the warning goes off. HE has good airflow but i solved the problem! The cheap bastards where he bought his computer put in an

ASUS A7V Which supports up to 1.2ghz they set the multipliers themselves so that it said 1.4. FN assh*oles

Some ASUS Socket A boards, tends to overstate the actual CPU temp; give it a finger touch test, if it takes a layer of your skin off when you touch the heatsink, it's time for a different cooling solution.

yes i just got a 1.4 tbird and was waondering what HS would be good for moderate overclocking (1.5). i have a ASUS A7A266 mb.

I just purchase an AMD 1900+ on a SOYO SY-K7v+ Mobo, adn the Dragon Orb 3 7000 RPM model.

Noise is very critical factor in my work environment, and had to make the unit as quiet as possible (so I scratched the Dragon Orb immediatly).

Needless to say, I investigated water cooling and evaporitve devices. The water cooling still relied on fans attached to a readiator, (not any quiter than a decent CPU fan), and the evaporative technique was too precise for me to develop a home grown solution, and the commercial products wre too expensive.

I purchased three CPU coolers, each promising to be the quitest avilable. The first was the Zalman 3100 plus. http://store.yahoo.com/directron/cnps3100.html

The second was the JustCooler p-8000 ultra-quiet High Volume Cooler. http://store.yahoo.com/amamax/juscoolp8ulh.html

And the Third was the Noisecontrol Silverado.

The Silverado was the quitest, expecially at 6v - 10v, but was pretty quiet at 12v also. It was rather large, and was mounted with only a clip, so it would not be safe for traveling or moving at all.

The Zalman was very quiet also, (not as quiet as the silverado), but very effective, and small. The fan also cools the Mobo, and North bridge (nice feature).

The JustCooler brand CPU cooler, was indeed quiet, however not as effective as the Zalman or Silverado.

After testing their noise level, effectiveness, and all around pleasability, I chose to use the Zalman 3100 plus. I like its small size, unique design (looks killer in my system), and it works effectivly at 8v, making it even quieter. (my cpu temp is between 35 - 42C)

Now that isn't impressive cooling, but it is quiet, the Dragon Orb 3, only cooled it to 32 - 37C

I am satisifed with the CPU cooler, and it is a very quiet system (I also purchased the ENermax quiet Power supply, and have only one exhaust fan on the back).

hey for the athlons the best way to go i think is the cooler master DP5-6131C it keeps me really kool,quite and just three othe case fans works wonders
