A friend of mine has a little business on the side selling Nascar memorabilia and was wanting to put together a website with a shopping cart type system. I really don't think I have the know how to try and write something like this from the ground up. What would you guys use for something like this? I see there are lots of options for software. Could be for either linux or windows server as they don't have a host yet. So ASP, Perl, PHP, you name it.

I've used OSCommerce on a few sites.

If you use a Joomla site, go with the Virtuemart component which is my preferred method.

I've used zencart before; it's all right.

Everything else has been custom developed.
