|
I have a friend who is parting out a laptop and I had some questions about the best way to part out pieces for it. This laptop had Orange Juice spilled on it and it slowly stopped working. He had computer techs look at it and they opened it up and determined that the power module on the motherboard was shot. Now he wants to auction off the parts on ebay. I know that some of these parts are only going to be able to sold out of luck or not at all being that laptops are, to an extent proprietary by nature of design. Should it be sold as an entire "dead unit"? Should the chassis and the display be sold seperately? Or the Foxconn heatsink and copper heat transfer for the processor? Keypad.. etc. I'm just trying to get an idea of how to part out and what to list together to get this thing sold. If it is important to how this is sold at all, the computer was an Acer Travelmate 2410 with 1.5 Celeron M, 512 RAM, 15' LCD display, 60 Gig hard drive. Motherboard is useless, but everything esle is still good. |

If it was a Dell unit i would say to part out the specific components. Since its an Acer I dont know what the market is for these parts. You may get lucky and someone may need something specific off this unit. I would list it first as a whole defective unit with the issues clearly detailed. If you dont get any hits on it as a whole unit then maybe part it out. |
