Heres a question for you geeks:

Is it possible to have a mirrored set of drives that are from the same manufacture, same size, and model #, that give different hashed values for each to the mirrored set?

I have a reason for asking. Cause I have a server that has a mirrored set and its working fine. However, we have a compnay that came in for som work and they did a compare between the two drives and the Hases are different.

What would cause this, bad sectors?

What data is included in the hash? Presumably the serial numbers are different...

this is why I use software raid... avoids these issues Very Happy

have no clue why the hash would be different. Probably something like what Cheese said.

Here's the reason why

The 2 drives did not complete their synch operation prior to being shutdown.
