Post Posted: Thu Jul 19, 2007 7:01 am   Post subject: Questions about the Wii Reply with quote Back to top

I’m not too much of a gamer, so I don’t really pay much attention to “gaming news”.
Anyway, I’m thinking about getting a Nintendo Wii and had some questions.
I chose the Wii over other consoles mainly because my wife expressed interest in the more “physically active” games, plus we have an (almost) 2 year old that I think would enjoy it in the near future.

It looks like the main console is going for about $250 not including extra controllers etc. What other “extras” should I think about getting? I see they have wireless remotes, a “nunchuck”??? charging station…etc
Can you guys recommend good games…family friendly or not.

Has there been any news of a price drop? I know the PS3 is dropping prices.
Is there any news of a new version coming out that I should wait for?

Get it and a classic controller. Don't buy any extra controllers until you look at WiiPlay, its 9 more games and a controller for 50$. I think its a good deal and the games are cool. I like Tiger Woods 2007 the most, I also enjoy several of the virtual games I downloaded from the wii store like galaga, sonic the hedge hog and mario brothers ...etc. I also got Zelda, need for speed carbon, monkey ball blitz and excite truck which are also really cool... Either way you cant go wrong with the wii and I don't think you'll see a price drop anytime soon. Very Happy

Cool, thanks for the info. I think we are going to go try one out this weekend. I just want to be prepared for pushy sales people and know what they are talking about.

I was looking online and see that they sell an extra component cable. I have a 42" HD plasma, should I get this cable? Would it be a big improvement over what it comes with?

So now I'm all excited to get one. I called all over and nobody has them in stock. One store said they "might" be getting some on Sunday, but I'd have to wait in line before the store opens if I want a chance at one. Mad Mad Mad

I coulda told you that was gonna happen...Razz If you have a 24 hour Walmart nearby, they usually put those out somewhere between 12 and 1AM, if they get any, so that might be a good bet for you.

So I called all over and my only chance was to stand in line early on Sunday. Mad
Got to work this morning and decided to call a few stores nearby. OMG!! Wal mart has 1 left!! I asked if they would hold it for me, but I guess it's against their policy. Damn...no way would it still be there by the end of the day. So I took off and hauled ass down the street and picked it up!
So now I have to sit here all day at work while my Wii sits in the box Crying or Very sad
I also picked up the sports pack (8 games plus controller) which was about the same price as a new controller itself. Well, there goes getting anything done for awhile Rolling Eyes

eBay or classified ad is your friend. Got mine that way. Sure, you pay a bit more, but you don't have to wait.

I got mine on craigslist before Xmas. Traded a TMX Elmo doll and paid his cost for the Wii. It was funny. He went into a store looking for a TMX Elmo and stumbled on the Wii. I read his post and went into a store looking for a Wii. No Wii but the TMX Elmo was there.

Wiiplay is a must have. You will have friends that want to play. Also Zelda is great!

My arms hurt for the first three days from playing the boxing. Great fun!
