Well, I just put 3 cakes in the oven, and they won't be cooked for hours.

I got some spare cash, free time, and a new HSF.
What to do?
Mod it.

The complaint about the Volcano 7 is the temputure probe. I'll try and move it so it will actually touch the core.
Got the idea from hardCOREware.Net

More on this later.

I should start a website a la Wil Wheaton.

I really should.

Anyway, the mod for now is impossible.
I and the radioshack lack wires.
And a thermistor that I need.
But in the meantime, I tried something else.
Just put the thermistor inside the heatsink.
Should work.
I have no ram, (I got a duron 1000 for my b-day!) so I can't test it, but it's as slient as ever.

In fact, while i'm here, does anyone know how to build a circuit for auto speed control?
Like the one the fan has? It's a really good idea.

i dont think that wil work b/c the air will be blowing on it and make the temps all wacked out. you might want to put it behind the proc and in between the MB then you'll be getting a real temp of the proc.

It's fun for about an hour

I've been thinking about that and since the settings are done in the factory, I might as well leave it where it is.
I can't mod the settings, they are too near the motor.

Oh well, plan b: auto fan speed circuit. Time to start reading up on thermistors...
