At home I have a cable modem and a Netgear router.
I am having some problems the last couple of months with my connection. I can not figure out what it is for the life of me.
But I think i know what it is but I am not sure!
It seems to be that every time I am downloading something off a torrent site That is when my internet looses it's speed I have my torrent clien running on 55461 if I remember correctly "I am not sure on the port I am not home now"
I mean I have tried everything that I could think of I changed the splitter
,made them come and run me a dedicated line for my modem!
Bought a new router I can not figure it out
Please help Thanks

Some Internet Service Providers detect and throttle Torrent downloading. Or so I've heard.
IIRC theere is a way round that. I can't remember right now, but I *think* there is settings to fool (some of those) detections in some Torrent clients.
What you should do is to measure your upload/download speed on one of those services that are around. Then compare. Then ask the ISP.
Good Luck
