|
I just noticed this:
fdisk wrote:Disk /dev/hdh: 80.0 GB, 80054059008 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 9732 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hdh1 1 9732 78172258+ 83 Linux
df wrote:Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/hdh1 20999028 13524532 6407784 68% /fshare/driveH
now...
lets look at the important parts here:
Quote:Disk /dev/hdh: 80.0 GB, 80054059008 bytes
and
Quote:1K-blocks: 20999028
I can do my math...
20999028 K blocks... = 21503004672 bytes
21503004672 bytes != 80054059008 bytes
not even close!!!
Thats something like 1/4 of the space I'm supposed to have...
(ok, so its 27% instead of 25%, but who's counting)
ok.. problem..
anyone have any ideas?
here's the advanced partition look from fdisk
Quote:Disk /dev/hdh: 255 heads, 63 sectors, 9732 cylinders
Nr AF Hd Sec Cyl Hd Sec Cyl Start Size ID
1 00 1 1 0 254 63 1023 63 156344517 83
2 00 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 00
3 00 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 00
4 00 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 00
I'm flumuxed and will end up breaking that 1 big 80gb partition into 4 20's if that will get me the space back.. but...
oh yeah.. its an ext3 filesystem
thank ya vewy much |

Looks to me like hdh1 is already a 20GB partition. Check out what hdh looks like in GParted (or something similar). It might show that you have 75% of your drive unpartitioned. |

Then use parted instead. |

ahh
fixed it
problem was that the disk originally was divided into 20 gb segments
I repartitioned it into one large partition
I ended up needing to do a mkfs and reformat the disk
and that solved the issue |
