regarding the creating the folder in dos using ancii keystrokes; I tried hitting ALT and then (still holding ALT) typing 255 then the rest of what you said, and all it did was create a folder with no space in between the two words? I am prolly missing something, so it would be cool if you could help out..

Make sure NUM LOCK is on and use the number pad on the right side of your keyboard. The other number (above the letters) don't work for this.

I d'loaded the ISO file for the screensaver hack, but need a cue sheet to get it to work right. I know making cue sheets are easy, but I can't remember the exact commands to put in it. Can someone either send me one they made, or post the commands to put in the file. Thanks...

try this
create shortcut to
c:\windows\rundll.exe user.exe,exitwindows
place in start menu

Or put that command line in a batch file, and then use the AT Scheduler to make it run every 4 hours. [}Smile]

Wow, this is a rich subject. I see an entire website dedicated to it (if there isn't one already). I have a million of these, but here are the first to come to mind:

1. Windows 95, or perhaps a later Windows on an AT (not ATX) motherboard: Rename c:\windows\logos.sys to c:\windows\logos.sys.bmp and edit the image, moving letters around to spell a different message. My favorite is "It is not safe to shut down your computer." Don't forget to rename the file back before trying it. I don't know what happens if the file isn't found.

2. Suggest a black background color with white text. It has that slick Apple // look and many applications will use your chosen background color and their own text color. Expect a lot of black windows with black text.

3. Change the "variable width font" in the default browser to a dingbats/woodtype ornaments style font. Most web pages will be largely gibberish from then on.

4. In Control Panel - Mouse, switch to left-handed mouse buttons.

5. Create a batch file that "echo"s error messages followed by "System halted" or something equally ominous. I don't remember the command, but include the one that redirects screen output so it appears the screen goes dead when the batch file is complete. Call this batch file "autoexec.bat" and place it on an otherwise blank (except for system files) bootable diskette which you slip casually into the A drive of your unwitting victim. Most computer users (even some advanced ones) forget they have an A drive. Best if the room is noisy enough that they don't hear it grinding.

And finally, the most evil one of all:

6. Install the latest version of AOL, the one that wrecks everything and devours Cleveland.

My personal Favorite is the BSOD screen saver. You know the BSOD that says hit any key to return to windows. It is pretty simple to create it photoshop, and then there is a shareware program (can't remeber the title) that displays a pic as a screen saver. Set the screen saver for 5 min's, and watch the BSOD hit them every time they leave their comp idle. It is amazing how many times you can get them to call tech support because of the number of BSOD's their getting.

Eagles may fly, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines!!

Set their browser start page (for win 95 and 98 only tho) to http://www.nvgamers.co.uk/quake3.html - it does a c:\con\con image and crashes the computer.

Hehehe. I was going to add the "Start" "run" "con\con" to Part 2 of the evil T&T, but It didn't crash completely. I was able to get back to the desktop in a somewhat stable state. I was hoping it would crash and burn harder than it did. Cool Smile[Wink]

spot your article was really very interesting
neede something different from the usual "politically correct" tips and tricks

your article is like the original carmageddon
that is any day much more enjoyable than a "needfor speed"or"mid town madness"even though these games are much more advanced

Arrange all icons on the desktop, hit print screen, paste the image in paint, save it as a bmp and set as the desktop wallpaper, then drag all the icons off the screen and srink the start menu down to nothing and watch as your victim clicks and clicks on the "icons" on the screen to no avail.
