Okay... everything is good. I got everything ok now... one last stupid (i.e. very stupid) question...
how do I change my boot.ini file so it's not system, hidden and read only....? do I have to go to dos for that? cuz in the properties, read only is greyed out, and I can't uncheck it..... |

You need to go to a command prompt for that.
Once you're at the command prompt, type attrib -s -h -r c:\boot.ini
That will remove the Hidden, System and Read Only attributes from that file.
However, since Windows will let you edit that file even with those attributes set there's no real need to change them.
