What does service pack one and service pack 2 mean and how do I find out which one I have... or does it matter? The gallery said to go to page 31 of the forum if I have SP2... I'm so confused now after reading through the forum...

Could someone make an updated baby-steps procedure for the whole thing now that the lwdkernal program is out..., I'm getting confused jumping all over the forums and trying to find out which posts are the most current....

(P.S. Sorry, what can I say, I'm a newb...)

Start, run, winver, enter.

That will tell you what sevice pack you are running. it will say Version 5.0 (Build 2195:Service Pack X)

the article was written after service pack 1, and the forum page 31 is for service pack 2.
