Here's the skinny. I installed Seti on another machine...it connected just fine.....downloaded work. Everything was fine. Then...... I needed to change the name of the PC.......
Now it wont return work. This particular PC is in another location right now so I can't look at the logs but it's definitely not sending work back in.
Is there some file(s) that I need to edit in the Boinc directory? If so, can I edit these files without screwing up the install or throwing up some red flag? This machine has already finished a bunch of work so I don't want to wipe it out and reinstall.
Hopefully there is some solution although I am somewhat doubtful based on the pre-assigned computer_id from the Seti Boinc website....
But I still have my paws crossed
I trolled through the SETI website and couldn't find anything and I didn't notice a search feature for the ol' message boards (although I could be screwed up in the head). |

sometimes, my BOINC just doesn't connect properly when you start it up after boot.
it will sit disconnected ....
reboot it. usually worx after that.
I don't know what is slightly different in the startup spec that the client doesn't start up properly under the manager .... |
