|
I noticed something interesting today about FireFox and my wireless router...
When I tried to change the security on the wireless page, it wouldn't accept my click on the "Accept" button...
Now when I tried it with IE...it took it just fine. The weird part is...that FF works fine on everything except fer that page and only when security was enabled...
I even tried updating to the latest firmware of 1.21... Wonder why that is? |

Well...I tried it with 4 different computers...all have the latest FireFox 1.5.0.1...so it can't be that.
Two of them have the IE tab installed...
Go figure... |

Dunno why it would matter but I keep that up to date with the latest version as well since I run Bidwatcher... |

n'k, check FireFoxes java ?
it might not use the installed system recognised version, for whateva !?
or it might be an ActiveX type Submit button.
Firefox won't load my D-Link Camera pictures, IE auto-asks-loads the insert ok |

I've uninstalled/reinstalled Java just to be on the safe side...still no go.
I don't think Java has anything to do with just that button though...on that page...and with security enabled. It works just fine on all the other pages and on that page when security is NOT enabled. |

I've noticed that problem on a few site that I pay bills on... the company says there's some incompatabilities between IE and Firefox (big suprise there) and that they are working to get the sites updated to allow full compatability of Firefox. I'm sure that's the problem. Probably some dinky IE-only quirk of a form entry that Firefox doesn't translate well. With security enabled it probably takes some "IE user friendly option" off
at least that's my theory |

He's having problems with the router interface not clicking properly. not with FF in general. My one BIG suggestion would be to push the reset button on the back of the router. this sets it to factory defaults. then try to reinstall the firmware again. They have noted on the Dlink site that some of the firmware updates have caused that problem |

Yup...even tried the reset...
Even tried a previous version of the firmware...
But the only time that button doesn't work in FF is when I enable security. It works fine any other time. All the other buttons work fine in FF, too! So what gives? |

if it's security related, you are on a "web site"
has this site been "trusted" ? |

Well...yes. It's my router config page...
It's when security is enabled for wireless is when the "Apply" button doesn't work in FF. The button works in FF if I don't enable the wireless security.
It's just frustrating that the security can't be set using FF and one has to use IE to make it work. |

BTW SSID broadcast should be OFF. even with a pass key you'll still end up with people banging on your wireless trying to get in
Also your page is not set up the same as mine. What version of router is yours? Mine is ver. A1 I stuck with the firmware version 1.11 its stable and I don't have the glitches or a centrino processor that would cause me to update it. |

SSID can be sniffed with all the wireless tools out there today without even a blink of yer mouse. It's just easier to enable it and lock it down via WPA-PSK. I have a key that's pretty long and will take awhile fer someone around here to crack it...it can be brute forced...but it will take time.
I have a version A1 router. As stated in my first post, I am running firmware 1.21. |

|
Hi my friends, I'm the new one here Few days ago, I was bought an D-link router, but German version with HW rev b2 Firmware version was 2.02DE but yesterday I change it to 2.03 ENG (heh, i live 8 miles away from Germany but my eng is quite better than deutsch ) Ok, my question is, is there any differences between devices with rev C (rest of the world) and rev B (grrr Germany) ? I found hacked/moded firmware for rev C and I'm not sure that it will running well with my rev. Thanks. |
