Whewn I posted that Insane Hardware stuff about the processor, I wrote "if they are wrong, blame them - not us" because they have been wrong in the past with more things than one. http://www.viahardware.com/ busted them on this one just like on the pinless Duron stuff they pulled a while back.
Quote:
InsaneHardware, the ones responsible for the "Pinless Duron" fiasco, are at it again with "Tualatin Pictures and Specs".
These are NOT in fact pictures of Tualatin, but merely pictures of the new FC-PGA2 Copppermine, which Intel will soon release at 1GHz. Intel even has an updated datasheet for it. Also, InsaneHardware has gotten the specs very wrong, as Almador will not support DDR off the bat, and Tualatin itself will have 256K of L2 and a 133MHz bus, not the 512K and 200MHz InsaneHardware lists.
The kicker is, the filenames of their "Tualatin Pictures" is "Coppermine_d_1" and "Coppermine_d_2". Could it be any more obvious?

Random . .
what made you go with the VP6 over one of the SMP boards with a serverworks III chiopset on it
Everything I hear about the stuff based on their chipsets gets awesome reviews

I wanted a dual cpu board to use for some 3d stuff i play with and have read some favorable reviews about the vp6. The tyan board i was considering uses the same chipset as the vp6.
I checked in to supermicro boards but they are a little on the pricey side for a toy. The asus cur-dsl (or something like that) was very expensive also. I found very little detailed info on any board with the serverworks chipsets.
Also i have good luck with abit boards.
did i missing something about the serverworks boards?

Yeah Brain let us know about the ServerWorksIII chipset? I'm very curious about it. What benefits/features does it have, what Mobo use it(make model etc), how expensive is it, how compatible is it, what form factor does it come in. Well you get the point!

the supermicro SUPER 370DL3
super 370DLE...
http://www.supermicro.com/PRODUCT/MotherBoards/RCC_LE/370DL3.htm
280 bucks is a little high for a motherboard plus, i would have to get a couple scsi drives.

super micro makes some really nice ones
they do have one model which has AGP
all of their boards are high end. .and scsi. . they are intended to be mid-level server capable boards
64 bit PCI is generally used for raid controllers and ethernet cards (though I seem to remember some modem bank controllers that i think were 64 bit)
I can't seem to find the one sweet board I saw reviewed someplace that had agp4x, no friggin scsi, built in promise 100
the cur-dls has SCSI, and no agp (
I'll do some research, and see if i can find that board i was talkin about
on the upside, you can expect serverworks to have their DDR chipset out soon. . . but i don't know if any workstation level boards will be available to the public

I'm not real concerned about AGP, I was thinking if FIDO, SPOT and I built a dedicated server for LWD what kind of mobo we would use. Plus if you were to build a box of this nature for SETI who cares about AGP.

that is a nice board but it is beyond my needs and means. i got the vp6 board two 800/100 fcpga's and a 128 mb stick of kingmax for 660.
what is agp pro? i see it is a slightly longer slot.

I might try that SETI stuff on it too.[ ]

wait just a little while. . . Serverworks is supposed to have something sweet in the mid-level server segment, with DDR ram coming out soon

that's just plain FREAKY . . . . Spotski !
because I was just wondering the other day. . . If you'd get more out of 2 dually boxes or 1 quad box
