|
2 years ago, I was running a dual screen setup. It was nice, and I was quite happy with it. However, said video card, Geforce4 Ti4200 kicked the bucket. And was replaced with a 9500 Pro. Which was later replaced by a 9800 Pro. But alas, neither card never fully satisfied my dual screen needs and I always stuck with a single screen. I sold one of the LCDs, and put another one into storage.
What I liked about the Geforce 4, when I ran the dual screens, I could have the taskbar in windows extend across both monitors. Meaning the clock would be on one monitor, and the start button would be on the other. I really liked that. However, with the ATI cards I've had, it seems that you can either clone or extend your desktop, not have both monitors act as 1 desktop.
Does anybody know if you can do that with ATI cards, or, if Nvidia cards still do that? I'm slightly interested in setting up a dual screen setup like that again if I can do it. Seeing as I have 2 of the same monitors once again.
Cheap would be ok, free is best.
I was hoping there might be some 3rd party software or something to make the ATI cards act that way. |

Not exactly what i wanted, but better. Now, my only question is...I wonder how gaming would be effected by this. |

I typically fire up Comanche 4 when I've a few spare minutes at the end of the day, before going home. It blanks monitors 2 and 3, and runs on monitor 1 only. Ultramon doesn't seem to impact the game at all. |

I've done some Half Life 2 with it. Seems to work fine. I can still see whats going on the other screen, just cant do anything on it. |

Sounds normal. Games like to hi-jack focus and hide your cursor. |
