Why didn't Apple do something Bold and do the announcement with AMD! IBM had a hand in AMD's latest chips and has similarities with the PowerChip. Kind of a slap in the face for AMD.
Probably not...

Well, remember roads run both ways.
I think you'll be able to install Windows on the Mac-tel.

What do they mean NOT ALLOW. I they going to write that into the License agreement. I think they are going the wrong way with this if they still want to continute controlling the hardware. I think they would seel more units if it was AMD based. |

Ummmm... lets see...
I'm actually excited about this. Looking forward to hacking past whatever locks they put in place to ensure it is only installed on Apple hardware... I wish they would just release it already, and give M$ some real competition. As long as they are tied exclusively to one bit of hardware windows doesn't really have anything to worry about...
Linux had better get its' act together if they want a shot at the desktop... Time's running out. Everyone is tired of the security issues in XP, Longhorn is becoming a bit of a running joke (dropping features, delaying release dates, etc...) and Linux has a prime chance to really shine if they can get the desktop in order. Pick one (kde or gnome... quit arguing about which is better) and just unite behind it and make it the best desktop ever. They are ahead of others in some regards... but overall still running in 3rd place to OSX and Windows...
Who cares whether it is on Intel or AMD??? I likely won't be buying their hardware... And generally speaking anyway... x86 is x86...
And how is running OSX on x86 hardware going to suddenly make them innundated with virii?? Linux runs on x86 and doesn't have any issues there... It is the software, not the hardware that is the target... |
