I wonder if the prices will still be exorbant?
It will be more difficult for them to justify the prcietag of a $2000 MAC using the same or similiar hardware as a $400 PC.

You have 60 meg executables? Wow.

The universal binaries takes care of that for ya. 1 app bundel contains both the PPC and Intel images.

What I'm more concerned about is endianess. For porting software from x86 to PPC, now we don't have to worry about endianess. But I worry for the PPC developers who've had their minds wrapped around big endian for the last what? 20 years give or take?

Not really. Mac users were brainwashed to believe the components put in a Mac are somehow blessed and are of high quality than the ones in PCs. In reality, the CPU alone won't make that much of a difference in the overall computer's cost.

More practically, I think the Intel Macs will be priced reasonably compared to existing Mac systems so not to show favortism or draw up some imaginary superiority lines between PPC and x86.

Yeah, those are the smaller ones. I've had them get up to a couple hundred meg before, but these are fully interactive presentations with all data bundled into the exe. They have to be completely self contained with no installers or anything. Basically you pop the disc in and it starts playing (with the exception of OSX since Jobs in his great wisdom disabled autorun in OSX)

Do you really mean compiled resources, or just files inserted into the app bundle? If the latter, you're in luck. Only the binary image have to be doubled.

I know they will make it work with the new OS, I will still need to support all of the old OSes at the same time on the same disc.

That's what I'm saying, hopefully a new Director format will make the final output compatible across various "Mac" machines.

Don't you have a G5 PowerMac EdisonRex? The installers should already be on your HD somewhere.

So does this mean that we would be able to Dual Boot Windows and OS X?

Why didn't Apple do something Bold and do the announcement with AMD! IBM had a hand in AMD's latest chips and has similarities with the PowerChip. Kind of a slap in the face for AMD.
