During boot-up proftpd fails to start. It claims that it cannot determine its IP address. My DHCP server says it's got a lease for that machine, and even gives the right hostname, so I know the Mandrake 8.1 installation is picking up an IP address.
Any ideas what might stop it from starting?

Don't ask me such things. I know that if i don't set the hostname during install i can't get my postfix to work. When i do it works out-of-the-box. The error i get when it doesn't work seem to be the same HOSTNAME problem
ps. i tested proftp on my box and it works like a charm |
