My XP 2100 would simply crash to desktop( if playing a game), my XP2500 reboots. Both cpu's were overclocked, 2100 had AMD standard HSF, 2500 had a Volcano 9, fan speed set at halfway( this is a very noisy fan).
How quickly does it return to its idle temp. If it stays hot you may want to consider upgrading your cooling.
Also what video card do you have? The card maybe producing a fair bit of heat that is making ambient temp inside your case a little too hot, hence the advice about setting up a snorkle(cold air induction).
Video card?
At the store I asked for a Radeon 9800 PRO 128 MB, but the device manager says 9800 XT? Either way, they will both produce a fair amount of heat. |

Q: If a tree falls when nobody can hear it, does it make a sound?
A: Chuck Norris can hear it.

rechecked my A64 320 after about 2 weeks and found it still runs at 45 degrees and no higher. I do run it with the case open. For the folks that think thats a bad idea, well it seems to be keeping it cool enough |

Volcano 12 will make your ears bleed & scream in horror....rip the cpu monitor off so you have full control over speed & noise |
