|
I have a Soyo KT400 Ultimate motherboard and a Athlon XP 2100+ cpu. FOr some reason my computer keeps shutting down cause of the cpu temp. Normally this only happens once in a long while. But recently it has been happening very very often. My computer case is open and has a big box fan right next to it. For some reason after it shuts down i leave it shut to cool down, I left it off all night and the next moring when i turned it on the mobo said it was already 138ºF and 5 minutes to installing Windows it shuts off again. I do not believe it to actually be at 138ºF when i was leftoff all night. So my question is "is it possible the temp monitor or the AntiBurn Regulator on my mobo have gone bad?" |

I turned my comp on and turned off the ABR and installed windows. And afte windows installed I installed the Soyo Hardware monitor and it says my cpu tempurature is 113ºF . So I think that my ABR is just going bad or something. |

You installed Windows and other programs in less than 9 minutes, and had time to update here?!?! Wow, you're good... |

you might just want to look at the fan and heat sink on the processor. perhaps the fan is dead or the heat sink is clogged with dust. make sure the heat sink is seated properly. another thing to do is reapply heatsink caulk. so the heat transfer from the cpu to heat sink is stable. those are generally the problems you have with overheating. |

Ummm don't you mean thermal paste? Caulk is more generally suited to make sure your tub doesn't leak. |
