As I mentioned here I finally got my batch of LEDs in today from one of my favorite places, Hosfelt...

I know some people have changed their power LED to a blue one. Boring... Sad Smile

So I've decided to go a different route and put one of the color changing LEDs in my comp instead. Big Smile

It should be a simple swap out and should provide a nice color show... Wink SmileBig Smile...at least it will be different than all the other comps out there. Big Smile

Flashing and color cycling LEDs are really annoying. A steady blue light is one thing to get used to. A flash or color change from your case in a darkened room is always going to distract you.

What I want is one LED for both the HDD access and the power.

Blue when the computer is on and red when the computer is on and the hard drive is being accessed...

Cygnus...you need to read the posts... Rolling Eyes

I mentioned it fer the power LED. Wink Smile I don't think I want the mouse freaking out with the color changes...maybe fer the secondary light that isn't being used fer the movement sensor.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to just use a low output blue and high output red LEDs but combine them into a plastic piece? You might get a funky magenta color instead of red depending on how well it color blended... Wink Smile

I know they make multi-color LEDs (usually green/orange)...you can see them fer power and standby modes. Guess I'll have to find a blue/red version... Big Smile

Those are usually polarity change types. Wink Smile

Bummer...the voltage going to the power LED is less than what the color changing LED requires... Sad Smile

After finding out the specs on the LED, JAE worked out that a 5ohm resistor (in series) combined with the 5V line would be enough to drive this baby. So now I'm off to run a line from the 5V, plus the 5ohm resistor to the power LED run and get this baby up and running.

Yah...it might be a bit irratating at first, but it's just another mod. Wink SmileBig Smile
