Man, I have bad luck. I got in my car to come home from work today, started the car, and grabbed the snow brush. It had been snowing all day so I had to sweep it off. Its about -20C(-4F) out today as well. I got out, and closed the drivers door, and WHAM, the back window caved in. It literally shattered in to a million tiny little glass pieces all over the inside of my car. I had nothing to put in the window, and it is too cold for duct tape to stick anyways, so I just drove 65km (40 miles) with no back window. I am cold. And now there is no place that can replace it for me before Monday, perhaps not even until Tuesday. There isn't anything that says "Come in and steal everything valuable" like haveing no back window. I do have plastic sort of taped and tied in there, but very well. And I have to go back there tomorrow. Damn.Dissapprove Smile[XX(][Sad]

DAMN that sucks. When it finally got cold around here, my old Z wouldn't start. I had to replace the airflow meter ($300), and when it did start my headers started leaking. Stupid car. Dissapprove Smile

I live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. This is the first true cold snap this year. It is 5:16AM, and I am just leaving for work. It is -36C(-32F) and still snowing. Thank god my gf lent me her car. It is pretty rare aroun here to get this cold, and have snow. It is usually either cold, or snowy, but not both at the same time.

Yeah, cold block in computer, cold in house. It warmed up nicely today, it got all the way up to about -30C at work. To top it off, because someone decided to wrap their Ford Ranger around a light pole it only took me 2.5 hours to make the usual 40 min drive home from work. I thought I was going to have to have a freak out!! Crappy weekend I tell you. I'll see how crappy tomorrow when I find out how much the window is going to cost me.

Well it looks like the window is going to cost me about $900CDN(600US). And my insurance company is telling me it is not covered because I only have limited glass coverage. I am going to try and find a used window, or even the whole hatch. To top it all off, the heating in the office here at work is fried, and it is a boomin 44F today. My fingers are numb just typing this. Not a happy camper today[Sad][XX(][v]

I feel for ya, hummer. A couple years ago I sat at my front window while a storm started blowing in. As I was thinking "I should pull my car in the garage" a big gust of wind blew down a huge limb from this half-dead tree next door and landed right on my car. It hit so hard all the glass shattered. It was a Ford Probe, which is 90% glass, so you can imagine the bill for that one. I think it was around $1,200. Insurance didn't cover it either. So like I said, I feel your pain.

Stop looking at me like that.

Not mention your car being swallowed up during the next earthquake.

I don't really enjoy crowds of people, and there are more people in California than in all of Canada. We have a lot of wide open space up here. I was in Cali recently, and what was considered a big farm was 80 acres. My parents own a small acreage here, and it is 80 acres. I know of a family that owns 83 sections, which is 53,120 acres. Now that is a big farm!! I don't know if you guys remember the movie Unforgiven with Clint Eastwood(Not a very good movie IMO), it was entirely filmed on these peoples land. California just doesn't have enough open space for me, too crowded.

Wow. I went to canada two summers ago to do some ice climbing. WIIIIIIIIIDEE open spaces. I loved it. My entire family (save my mom) goes camping. I would kill to have those 53,000 acres. The most anyone ownes around where I live is 2 acres. Too urban for my tastes actually. We can't really get away from the sounds of the road when we go camping. It spoiles some of the fun. [Sad]

I tell you, backpacking in the Canadian Rockies is heavenly. If you don't mind the cold, winter camping is by far the best. You can spend an entire week in the back country in February and never see another human being. It is great!! I spent a summer in the Canadian High Arctic, working as a geological assistant. We lived in a tent camp at 81 degrees north latitude. There were 12 of us in camp, and we knew that there was no one else within at least 100 miles of us. My job was to hike, everyday, and take the rock smaples the geologist told me to take. To make it better, we had a helicoptor to fly us to a new spot every day. I loved it. I made $11,000 in two monthes, by hiking. Unfortunately, unless I some how come by some spare time, it looks like my brother and I's annual winter camping trip will be cancelled. Booo.
