No biggie...

If the text is hard to read, you can always hold down the control key and roll yer mouse wheel backwards to increase the font size on the screen. Be careful in FireFox though...it can get really big if you really keep on winding on the wheel... Shocking Smile It got so big on my screen that only one letter showed... Shocking Smile Blush Smile

definately selfish but he's not the first guy to do it.

i'd think it'd be more selfish if he stayed in doing something he couldn't stand then getting out and letting someone else who wants the opportunity to give it a shot. if he couldn't stand it, but they were going to pay him the money, he could have taken it and rebelled, which would have been selfish. instead he just said, hey guys, i don't like your rules, i'm going get out so i don't have to break your rules, oh yeah, and btw, there's tons more people like me who haven't had the balls to leave yet.

as for his weed smoking, i don't think that's the worse thing he could have done. if he was killing hookers and quit the NFL because they had a rule about killing hookers and he didn't want to have their rule interfere with his hobby, that's one thing. he's doing something that, most reasonable people would say is wrong, no matter what culture your in: murder equals a no-no. but getting high? sure in america its a crime, but there's plenty of places its not. why should the government regulate what he puts into his body if he's doing it in a way that won't harm other people? so he worked some years to get the bling and now he's going to retire early and smoke a fatty, sounds like he played his cards right. i don't see anything selfish or wrong about it other then he may have told the dolphins a little late in preseason.

I think since he's a sport celeb, the enforcement officials are gonna keep an eye on him. He's just gonna get busted and end up in jail somewhere... Sad Smile

Its not the simple fact that he left, but WHEN he left. Training camp started this week and the season starts in a month. He could have made this decision upto 6 months ago. At least give his team time to replace him and what not. When you count on a star to be there and he bails on you a month before the season starts, that's selfish.

Picutre the database expert on a software team quiting a month before a year long project starts. It's going to be tough to get things done on time

And as for the weed smoking, I think he should be retroactively punished. I mean if you work for a company and embezzle money and then quit and say haha look what I did, you get punished. This guy openly admitted to breaking the rules while he played. He should be punished for it now.

Former Miami Dolphins running back Ricky Williams reportedly failed a third drug test for the use of marijuana. According to the Thursday edition of the Miami Herald, Williams said the drug was a bigger reason for his retirement than he initially indicated. He also noted that he knew of his third failed drug test and a mandatory suspension that would have accompanied it prior to telling head coach Dave Wannstedt of his desire to stop playing football. Williams told the paper that he smoked throughout his time in South Florida although he did stop occasionally. He said he passed the random drug tests by drinking 32 ounces of a masking agent called Extra Clean and chasing it quickly with 32 ounces of water.

Tell that to Barry Bonds or Michael Jordan. Ricky Williams is vital to Miami. They aren't going to finish last but they will slip I'm sure.

Sure, they pinned a lot of hopes on Ricky, but there's a Substantial Chunk of Salary Cap suddently available now, too. Maybe they can get a Couple Good Players to replace him...

exactly, teams arent jsut oen player. I mean, Barry Bonds doesnt win world series by himself, and niether will a team that relies on one star.

But you have to win games to get to the World Series. One of the most underrated stat in baseball is Runs Created. These are vital in the formula for calulating how many wins a player is responsible for. A Win Share is a third of a win, so every three win shares essentially means without that player a team would win one less game.

Who leades the majors in runs created and win shares? Barry Bonds. Bonds has 34 win shares (which means he is worth about 11 wins this season). The next best is a 26 (approx 8 wins) by Carlos Guillen, Todd Helton, and Bobby Abreu. Now that's 11 wins out of 56. That is about 20% of their wins. That means essentially that Bonds is responsible for 1/5 of a teams wins. 1 FIFTH!!! That's crazy. Even replacing Bonds with a guy like Ichiro, you lose about 5 wins. Five wins easily makes a difference between making the playoffs and not.

And lets not even talk about runs created. Bonds leads the world with 112, The next highest, 95.6 by Mr. Abreu. To put it better into perspective. If you had a team of 9 Barry Bonds you would score (create) about 19 runs a game. A team of Todd Heltons (who is second in average) would create 10 runs a game.

Bonds is a sick player, and he is the definition of Most Valuable Player.

ps - I'm a huge baseball geek. Cool

I don't know much about him but he's got to be better than what else they had. And being a dolphin fan, I'm happy for anything right about now.
