i think one of the biggest blows for apple in the past year was microsoft purchasing connectix and thus virtual pc. i say it was a blow because at least when connectix was behind it, you knew they were trying to make a great product, and that's how they'd make their money. now that microsoft owns it, there's no reason they for them not to squash the project.

when i started reading about virtual pc 7, i couldn't help but be excited. the early reports said it was able to do hardware accelerated 3d, OpenGL or Direct X, plus there all the reports said there were huge performance gains, running at what seemed near native speeds on the G5.

as soon as things got exciting, microsoft announced the software was delayed. before this everything seemed to be going well, and MS seemed to tout their improvements. but this delay, with no real explanation of why or when to expect a release, has me thinking this release might be vaporware, or the release that come out might be severly crippled (like only being able to run windows *eek!*).

i don't want to sound like an anti-microsoft jerk, but i'm worried that this product is going to go the way of so many other programs microsoft has bought and botched. can anyone calm my fears?

There's always VMware. At least until Microsoft "embraces and extends" it, too...
