Hi
I have only recently started working with linux. I found your dual boot section real useful, thank you!!
I have one more problem though.
My computer is connected to a DHCP network, which is working beautifully on win2k, however, i also would like to connect to the network in Linux (i am told tis is possible). I am using RedHat 7.0 at the moment
My ethernet card is recognized by linux, but i need help to get it all hooked up. PLEASE HELP (if u can).
Many Thanks

To make sure your NIC is detected and enabled, run 'ifconfig' from the prompt and you should see two entries..one for 'lo' (localhost) and one for 'eth0' (ethernet).
Try running netcfg or linuxconf and under the network configuration you should see an entry for Adapter 1 - make sure that you have DHCP enabled for the NIC. You'll also have to set up any router/gateway information. You can also set up DNS server information here.
From the prompt, run 'netstat -rn' to display the entries in your routing table. You should see multiple entries; one for your localhost/loopback device (IP 127.0.0.0) and an entry for you ethernet card (whatever the IP addy is for that). Try pinging computers on your network with 'ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx' where the x's represent a computer's IP address. This should work for computers on the net as well (provided the router/gateway information was set up correctly).
If this stuff doesn't work maybe I can provide more detailed help.

1. During installation you are asked if you want to setup a network.
2. Use draknet and select dhcd |

Access your computer, or ping it? If you're trying to share something on your linux machine with windows boxes then you'll need to install and run Samba.
