Good to hear from you Lady. It's been a while. I remember "not wanting" to do a software review until I tried it out.
I remember you guys being one of the first to come out with pop-up blockers too... when you got interviewed by cnet, etc.
Ahhh... the days. |

There was even the LWD branded pop-up blocker!
[EDIT]I just went and looked - and its still available. Any of you dogs using IE, or any other browser without an integrated pop-up stopper should check it out.[/EDIT] |

Wow you remember CNET! Yeah, the good old days.. we were the first besides the shareware popup killer, which sold out to someone big...
Now, we are fighting to retain rights to our trademark 'Pop-Up Stopper' so be sure to use the generic term 'pop-up blocker' like Spot (good dog) instead of referring to it as hummer010 did (bad dog, just kidding) as in..
"Any of you dogs using IE, or any other browser without an integrated pop-up stopper should check it out"
You know, kind of like how all tissues are called 'Kleenex' ...
But I digress! Yes, there still is a branded LWD Pop-Up Stopper!
And our new version blocks ads in Firefox since so many were telling us that some pop-up ads get by there now, and I love Firefoxxxxxy! |

I wonder, can this be put on a computer that I don't have "priveledges" on? We have WinXP at work, and this would be nice to have but my sysadmins probably wouldn't go fo installing it. I can run some programs, like IrfanView without installing: would that work for this program? |

|
I have used Don't Panic for years and after I reformatted , the new copy of Dont Panic from Panicware doesnt work properly. I have emailed them twice but the mail comes back to me. I have tried to go to their website and that is down now too.
The main problem I'm having with DP is it doesn't show the red line at startup or any other way I try to activate it! at that rate, I really have no idea if it is working right and can't be dependable.
I have paid for it long time ago. I have tried all kinds of updates and fixes for my computer but that has not helped DP run any better.
Can anyone fill me in if they know anything about all this?? thank you

Hi, what operating system are you running? DP was designed for W2K and just ran on XP by good fortune. Nobody has ever said if Vista would manage it, and I guess not.
You might need to set DP to be compatible with a previous version. This is just a guess, but if you want to try it, get the properties for the application by alt-enter or right click on the app to get the right click menu and select properties. In there you'll see a compatibility tab. Try that and let us know how it works. Oh and I did want to know about the version of windows you are running and which service pack. |

I'm running XP Home and SP2 at this time. That is what I had been running all this time when DP worked fine. Same machine. When this started, I downloaded SP3, IE 7 and whatever else Windows update had to offer... it did not make a difference. As I said, I have had DP for a good 6 years... same machines.
I also have a laptop which is XP Pro with SP 2... has been working great for ages now.
It's the desktop that must be missing something ever since I reformatted the darn thing! Grrrrrrrrrrr..
I will read what you suggest and will try that.
thank you for the reply
