|
Well...
I am running Suitcase 10.2.2.
OS X.3 has a zillion places it can run fonts....
I am already finding that FONT BOOK isn't cutting it for my uses.
In fact - I have already boogered my junk once by trying to de activate multiple fonts through FONT BOOK.
And work is proving to be a bear - in that we are running a JILLION suitcase programs from 3.0 to X1. I kid you not.
We also have the user fonts... Program fonts - ets
What I was wondering is how feasible is it to:
1) remove (or move) all fonts from: /Library/Fonts (no one needs them)
2) remove (or move) all fonts from the Userhomes: ~/Library/Fonts (no one needs them)
3) some apps create their own Fonts folder check that out and remove everything (or move ... )
<At work we have our own "library" of fonts for our clients = out of which everyone and their monkey gets to mess with>
And still run SUITCASE with autoactivation on while having it override system fonts?
This is almost as much fun as finding an extension conflict in the old days of the beige dinosaurs! |

Probably you can move these, so long as they are in another findable place

this is the local users place. Unless the local user has something installed no other local user has, sure. If you are the only local user, ship 'em out.

some fonts might be licensed? or non standard. Try moving to main font library, if you can't see them, bring 'em back.

hmm. I hadn't even thought of that. Of course, my font sets are mostly music notation fonts, so I don't have as many.
From what I can see, fonts are a free for all in OSX. There are some tools available to help, check out http://cgm.cs.mcgill.ca/~luc/macmanagers.html for a good list. |

um, just to let you know, i have no idea about anything having to do with fonts or suitcase or any of that stuff, but i came across this pdf that had all those words in it, so i thought it might be of some help.

please disregard this post if it is apparent that i have no idea what i'm talking about and this document sheds no light on anything. |

If you miss extension conflicts you can always come to my work and relive those good ol' days. I have a standard list of what to "turn off". Sorry, can't help with the font stuff. |
