Well, since we hijacked the New Years Resolution thread, I'd figure I'd just start a new one.

I'm looking for a marathon come late April to early June, any suggestions? Can you offer a place for me to crash? Willing to run one with me and share a hotel bill?

2/7/04 Save the Light Half-MArathon & 5K Folly Beach 8:30am ActionCarolina
2/21/04 Myrtle Beach MAraton, 843-293-RACEMB Marathon

Those are what I'm doing early on in the year...

I'm goign to do some research to see other races going on because the only other east coast one I know about is the Rock N Roll Marathon in Virginia Beach but I'll be honeymooning. That is labor day weekend... I'm open to doing one in April or may probably...

There is this one though in Arlington, VA, right outside of DC though:
Arlington Marathon
Sunday, May 2, 2004 8:00 AM

Kentucky Derby Festival Marathon/mini-Marathon - April 24th http://www.kdf.org/events/eventviewer.asp?id=108

I'll be running the mini (13.1 miles), but have a friend or two that will be doing the full 26.2 miler. It should be warm here that time of year. But some years it's still 30 degrees at the end of April. Humidity should be kicking up right good too (Louisville - Yiddish for "air so thick you can swim to your car"). Wink Sorry, I don't have anywhere to house anyone though. Embarassed

Better yet, stay for a whole week and we'll go to the Derby infield the following weekend....talk about a party!

WOW.....Nattie's in town on my birthday. Laughing

A couple of friends of mine who are massage therapists always work that race. I had this crazy idea last year that I would work out all year and attempt to run it but with my back problems, that just didn't happen. I've run a couple of half marathons and 10k's a couple years back but never an entire marathon. Would be fun to do it in my own town, though.

Well, time to make some choices. I really want to run either Atlanta or Seattle, but htey are on Thanksgiving or that weekend (respectively) and I'm loathe to not be with my family for Thanksgiving. That's always been my grandmother's holiday, and my mother's, when we can get the entire family together. Then christmas usually goes to the various spouse's families.

But, in shorter term, April 25 for Cleveland seems a good possibility. Gotta get a hold of my friend out that way and see if I can get him to commit to giving me a room. I suppose I could try to stay with his girlfriend too...she'd probably give me a spare couch. Probably best off staying my friend's mother's place though, since I doubt either he or her has an extra bed.

So, no definates yet, but Cleveland is the goal, and then I still need to find one for late fall/early winter. Bar Harbor is a good september possibility (I'll have to get out there this spring and check out the course), but I'd prefer to hit a new state if I can.

Edit: Looks like Cleveland on April 25 it is! Now to see if I can get time off so that I can make a vacation of it.

Edit 2: Yep, I am running in Cleveland in April. I'm bib #1505.

Edit 3: Vacation time approved, April 23-April 27.

Not the best actually. I did a half marathon two weeks ago and had hurt my left knee... but i'm stubborn, and had to run the whole way Saturday, with a knee that started killing at mile 3 ... and finished unofficially I think at 4:28.... And now have to go to the dr. today... oh well... Thanks for asking though! Wouldn't mind chopping an hour off of that time for the next one!

Heh, I'd love to chop an hour off for my next one (April 25!) but there is no way that that is going to happen. Chopping off 20 minutes would be nice though.

Nattie, does your last name start with an 'H'? If so, you finished 718th at 4:39. I assume it's you since there was only one Natalie (sp?) in the race. If that's you, did you race with a relative by the same last name? Because he finished 1 second behind you.

If you ran a 4:28 with a bad knee.........that's an impressive time (to me) even if you didn't have knee problems. Good job, nattie!

Hr... you are on the ball. My dad stayed with me despite being able to run probably around what webster runs, but he knew I was hurting and knew I needed an extra kick to keep me going...

How was your birthday?

Not the best birthday, unfortunately. My grandfather was admitted to the hospital Friday at midnight. He lives in NJ so it's kind of hard not being there. He's having his gall bladder removed tomorrow so it's not as serious as we first thought but we're mostly worried about his heart.

I was fairly, uh, alcoholically impaired Friday night, though and I did go out to dinner at Landry's (at Broadway) on Saturday. They have this incredible broiled seafood platter that I had New Years Eve and just had to go get it again.

One good thing, my "lifelong dream" of having my age match the number on the Rolling Rock bottle has been fulfilled. Gotta have goals, ya know. Wink
