Welcome to the Forums Braxxus [Very Happy]

Unfortunatlly your problem could come from a million different things, it's very tricky to troubleshoot - it could be both hardware and software

maybe Ram/CPU/HD?

have you done anything to your system as of late? or has this problem always happend in win2000?

Generally, the best way to start is a description of your system, like 'it's a athlon 900 on a asus a7v with a geforce 2 gts' You can get more specific if needed, then describe how your OS is installed, what specific applications freeze, how long the system is running before it does freeze etc.

A hard freeze in Win2k is almost always a hardware problem. Generally, it comes down to two things: Overheating, and bad ram. I'd start with those two issues and go from there.

Could also be bad video drivers or network card drivers. They usually hose a system up pretty good.

Braxxus, go into start, run, msconfig ( i assume u have win98), go to startup tab, and uncheck everything besides systray, hit apply, reboot, use the system for awhile and see if u still have the problem..

No it's a Win2k problem. Braxxus we need some more info about your PC and problem to really help you.

I would suggest checking if you have the latest bios for your motherboard (check the manufacturers site). I had a very similar problem with win2k and an asus board.

I have the same Problem. I can give you the Specs. AMD Athlon 1.333Ghz, 512M Ram, Trinity KT-A Model S2390B MB, Windows 2000 Pro.

I have applied the latest patches the Win 2000 and the latest flashes to the Bios of the MB. Nothing seems to help. It just freezes completely. It's happening exactly the same on 5 of these identical PC's. I'm wondering if it's this type MB not able to handle win 2000 or if there is an issue with win2000 and the Athlon 1.333Ghz

Also there are 2 others of this exact same config running Win NT4.0 with all patches. These have NEVER locked up. The Win 2000 ones average 1 lockup every 4 hours.
